myoActivationER is a condensed adaptation of the myoActivation® methodology that has been developed to provide a rapid algorithmic approach to assessment and treatment of common clinical presentations of pain and movement impairments in the emergency department or in an urgent care clinic.
Assessment involves a brief history followed by 1 to 4 relevant standardized tests of anatomical function. Treatment entails low risk, non-pharmaceutical needle insertions into dysfunctional soft tissues. myoActivationER may reduce the need for investigations in many patients and facilitates significantly reduced time to pain improvement allowing improved patient flow and satisfaction.
The workshop will focus on learning both rapid biomechanical assessment and hands-on treatment skills in paired practice exercises. Each participant takes turns in being the needler and needlee. No medication is injected.
Pre-reading will entail 2.0 hours in preparation for the 7.0 instructional hours in the workshop. There will be an instructor to participant ratio of 1:4 or 1:2 pairs in the practice exercises.
Participants will receive a kit of all necessary medical supplies required for 8 patient treatments at the end of the course.
Physicians, medical residents, and nurse practitioners are eligible to attend.
